Semi-Permanent Makeup

Semi-Permanent Makeup is a non-surgical treatment that uses dense pigment to add corrective colour to the face and body. This pigment may be applied to the skin using either Medical Tattooing, also known as Micropigmentation, or Temporary Camouflage Makeup. Semi-Permanent Makeup is incredible for filling in patchy brows, adding definition to the arch of the lips; concealing scar tissue, veins, vitiligo or birthmarks; and even make thinning hair on the scalp appear thicker. If you are thinking about this treatment but don’t know a lot about what the procedure involves, the benefits and how we provide this treatment at Harley Street Clinic Surrey and Harpenden.

Benefits of Semi-Permanent Makeup

Semi-Permanent Makeup can liberate you from the time-consuming chore of applying makeup, day in day out, to achieve your desired aesthetic. There are several types of semi-permanent makeup that we can provide and each has its own unique benefits as highlighted below.

What the Treatment Involves

Semi-permanent makeup involves implanting a small amount of pigment into the shallowest part of the dermis (First) layer of skin using an extremely fine needle. The treatment involves having one initial session followed by a second session 6-8 weeks later. Your semi-permanent makeup will not be completed after your first treatment. It is only after your second (or third depending on your skin) treatment, where shape and colour can all be adjusted. After this an annual colour boost is recommended to keep the makeup looking fresh. After your treatment some residual swelling is normal for all procedures. Most swelling occurs on day 2 or 3. The amount of swelling will differ on everyone, and the area may appear uneven, dry, itchy, tender, red or irritated, which is a normal part of the treatment. Extensive sun exposure or if you have oily skin, use anti-aging creams, retinA/retinol products, acidic cleansers, natural elements, regular chemical peels, or exercise frequently, your permanent makeup will fade prematurely. The better you take care of the treated area and follow the provided aftercare, the longer it will last.
