Hair loss is a common problem that affects both women and men. It can be caused by a variety of factors, while some of them last temporary, some of the factors cannot be reversed and may result in permanent hair loss. Our hair restoration treatments can give you back your confidence in yourself. Surgical and injectable treatment both can help towards restoring your hair.
The cost and time for this treatment will be purely dependant on the number of hairs grafted. If you are thinking about undergoing hair transplant, but don’t know a lot about what it involves, the benefits and how we provide this treatment please contact Harley Street Clinic Surrey & Harpenden.
Hair restoration/transplant is a procedure to move hair to an area that’s thin or bald.
Hair treatments are becoming increasingly popular. The treatments can involve medication, growth factor injections or surgery. Surgical procedures involve placing hair into deficient areas to help increase the thickness and quality of hair. There are 2 types of procedures FUE and FUT.
The follicles that are transplanted during the surgical procedure will last for the lifetime of the patient.
The initial hair that is transplanted will normally fall out within the 1st 8 weeks and the new hair growth will break through after 3 months after the procedure. This is something called ‘Shock Loss’ and is quite common. However, it can take up to 6-8 months for the new hair to make a significant cosmetic difference to your appearance.
The head does not need to be shaved – only the area where the skin is removed is trimmed.
During your consultation, you will have discussed and decided upon your new hairline. Your scalp will be marked again by the surgeon and answer any questions you may have before your procedure begins. To ensure the scalp is entirely numb local anaesthetic will be applied around the perimeter of the scalp, the rest of your procedure is usually pain free. Individual hair follicles of between 1 and 4 hairs are removed from the sides of the head and the back of the neck using a micro extraction instrument. Tiny holes are made in the balding area of the scalp, with the hairs placed into these holes at the correct angle and blended in to mimic the appearance of your original hair. After the procedure, patients will experience some minor soreness and numbness. Because hair is transplanted, the results are permanent. After a few weeks, the transplanted hair will shed, but will grow back as strong and healthy hair, which behaves exactly how your original hair did.
